TIANA KHASI emerges from a powerful period of chrysalis, introducing listeners to her most vibrant and engaged creative chapter yet. With a voice as “venomous as it is honey-sweet” (Happy Mag) and a sonic palette as bold as her heritage, the Samoan-Indian powerhouse is rewriting the rules of contemporary R&B, jazz, and soul with a flair that’s impossible to ignore.

Fresh off an Australian and debut Indian tour, Khasi’s latest independently released single Good As It Gets, flaunts a slick and highly anticipated return. Praised as “one of the hottest R&B tracks in the scene right now” (Triple J Late Nights) the “sleek, confidence anthem dripping with late ‘90s R&B flair” (Happy Mag) marks a fearless evolution in her artistry, blending “playful samples, sassy yet soulful vocals, and an undeniable grit” (Beers & Tears).

Regarded as one of Australia’s brightest lights of contemporary soul/R&B, Khasi began turning heads internationally early in her career, scoring global praise with her “flawless” (Complex UK) debut single, Nuketown. Catching the ear of BBC6 tastemaker Gilles Peterson, the “Solange-like trance” (Pilerats) was handpicked for the 13th installment of the renowned Brownswood Bubblers compilation. True to the UK’s reputation for discovery, Tiana went on to co-headline her sold out debut London performance, personally invited by BBC 1XTRA host Jamz Supernova for a Future Bounce showcase.

Her 2019 debut EP, Meghalaya—named for the land of the Khasi tribe whose name she proudly bears—signaled the arrival of an artist with both the clarity of vision and talent to back it up. “Nailing both songwriting and aura” (Rolling Stone), Khasi sold out the distinct yellow & crimson 12” vinyl and her first headline tour. The “divine offering” (Bandcamp) earned nominations for the prestigious Corner Award and an AIR Award nod for Best Independent R&B/Soul Release, a testament to the power in her storytelling. More than accolades, Meghalaya became a global bridge—connecting Tiana with her diaspora, who reached out with messages of pride and representation in her music.

Like many artists on the brink of international breakthrough in 2020, her trajectory was abruptly cut short by a world in lockdown. But rather than retreat, Khasi harnessed the resources of time and community, slow-cooking an impenetrable sense of self and laying the foundations for a lifelong career guided by her ancestors.

With over 11 million streams, Tiana continues to cement her status as a force on stage, handpicked to open for pioneering artists such as Masego, Kaiit, Pip Millett, Mildlife, and Cécile McLorin Salvant while captivating festival audiences nationwide (WOMADelaide, Vivid Sydney, a festival called PANAMA, Dark MOFO). In an industry known for reinvention, Tiana stands apart—not bound by genre, but driven by legacy and fearless artistic evolution.

Arriving at the precipice of a new creative chapter, 2025 brings in her new era fueled by self-determination, cultural and artistic nourishment—more than ever before. Unafraid to push herself into new sonic territory, Khasi is poised to once again captivate global audiences and redefine the boundaries of contemporary sound emerging from so-called ‘Australia’.
